The CDC I/O 6448 is an 11U fixed-frame stage box with 64 highly acclaimed Cadac amplifiers and 48 analog XLR outputs. The stage box uses Cadac's MegaCOMMS network protocol, which allows the input and output units to be located up to 150 meters away from the mixing console, and the CDC I/O 6448 has two pairs of spare MegaCOMMS send and receive jacks on the rear panel. All functions of the microphone preamp can be remotely controlled from the mixing console, together with the output distribution. To complete the user interface, indicators are provided including signal/overload/phantom power status indication, plus mute indication for the outputs. Large networks can be established using MegaCOMMS routing, currently up to 8 MegaCOMMS units can be connected to 4 mixing consoles. For insurance purpose, an external power supply can be added to prevent PSU power failure.
