When CADAC in the UK upgraded the sound reinforcement system for the multifunctional conference hall of the Broadcasting and Television Planning Institute of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, it faced a key challenge: how to balance the high-quality auditory experience of conference, presentation, and viewing modes in a limited space. Based on its leading immersive sound amplification technology, CADAC has successfully created the first national level immersive sound conference system in China. This project not only fills the technical gap in related fields, but also sets a new benchmark for similar projects!
CP66 Immersive Sound Processor
If traditional sound reinforcement layout is used to meet the needs of two different usage orientations, it is necessary to deploy two independent sound systems in the conference room, which will result in equipment redundancy and cumbersome operation. To this end, CADAC innovatively incorporates immersive sound reinforcement technology into the project. The core of the system adopts CADAC CP66 immersive sound processor, which uses HOA spatial algorithm to reconstruct the sound field and achieve various application effects of the system. CP66 complies with the ITU International Telecommunication Union's immersive audio international standard technology system. It can not only truly reproduce 3D immersive sound effects, but also be compatible with existing audio formats such as mono, stereo, 5.1, 7.1, etc. It supports expansion up to 64 to 128 channels and can use different numbers of speakers for sound field design. It has high flexibility and scalability, and can display sufficiently delicate sound field transition performance.
Through immersive sound control software, one can intuitively see the real coordinate information of each speaker in the physical space. In the speaker layout column, the corresponding coordinate information is also presented for layout. CP66 performs efficient real-time spatial audio calculations based on these valid data, and finally reproduces sound objects through a 1:1 speaker layout. The system delay caused by all channel processing is only 0.15 milliseconds, achieving full coverage and no blind spots in the conference room, and supporting flexible switching of auditory directions.
Through independent innovation, CADAC in the UK has deeply applied immersive sound technology to national level conference scenes, achieving efficient integration of audio technology and professional needs. This system, with its internationally leading acoustic performance, provides a new template for the design of future multifunctional conference spaces.
