The Mohe Sacred Deer Aurora Museum is located in the northernmost Arctic Village of China, with a total investment of 110 million yuan and a total area of 5,000 square meters. It integrates multiple functions, including a 4D dome cinema, a cultural and creative store, and an aurora museum. The core building is a 33-meter-diameter, 41-meter-high spherical 4D dynamic cinema equipped with 160 motion seats and an immersive sound system.
This project breaks through the traditional surround sound technology framework, adopting the HOA immersive sound solution from the UK's CADAC brand, delivering a highly realistic and multi-dimensional audiovisual experience to the audience. Combined with the content of the "Soaring Over Greater Khingan" film, it presents the magnificent scenes of aurora transformations, snow-covered forests, and the winding Heilongjiang River, achieving an immersive experience of "wandering through the painting" through the integration of sound, light, and seating movements, creating an ultimate feast for the senses.
Immersive sound reinforcement system
In the 4D dome theater project, we broke through traditional surround sound formats to create the dome theater, opting instead for our HOA immersive sound algorithm technology to optimize the spatial sound field of the entire dome theater. The CADAC immersive sound processor CP series features an intuitive visual operation interface: the input page clearly displays the object information of all signal sources, while the output interface fully presents the 31 output channels and their corresponding speakers' actual physical coordinates in the dome theater, greatly facilitating system debugging and monitoring.
The CP series processors leverage the advantages of FPGA computing cores to maintain high efficiency and stability even under heavy load, preventing redundant data accumulation and ensuring long-term system reliability. Their digital vertical audio link significantly enhances debugging and delivery efficiency. Additionally, the system integrates King Audio's IoT central control and power management platform, enabling intelligent centralized control of power, audio, video, and lighting.

Based on the HOA and Ambisonics spherical harmonic function algorithm, we deployed a four-layer speaker array inside the spherical theater: a subwoofer layer, a bottom layer (12 speakers), a middle layer (8 speakers), and a top sky channel (6 speakers). The entire system features 29 concealed 8-inch coaxial full-range speakers behind a 750-square-meter sound-transparent screen, balancing high-fidelity audio quality with acoustic structural compatibility to effectively suppress spherical sound focusing. The ultra-low-frequency section is handled by two dual 18-inch subwoofers, and to avoid resonance interference from multiple projectors, we specially designed a 10° tilt-stabilized bracket, significantly enhancing the system's anti-resonance performance.
Mohe is located in an extremely cold region. To ensure building insulation, the cinema hall adopts a unique double-sphere nested structure—a 23-meter-diameter dome screen hall with an additional 33-meter-diameter insulation shell. This design results in an initial reverberation time of up to 5.8 seconds, posing a significant challenge to sound reinforcement design. By implementing strong sound absorption treatments inside both the inner and outer spherical structures, we effectively suppressed sound refraction and focusing effects, laying a solid acoustic foundation for achieving immersive sound effects.
The immersive sound reinforcement system of the Aurora Sphere Theater in Shenlu strictly adheres to national standards and leverages HOA spherical harmonic immersive sound algorithms to achieve highly uniform sound field coverage and precise sound image localization, delivering a truly immersive audiovisual experience for audiences. Through meticulous tuning, it introduces top-tier 4D cinema experiences to the public, showcasing the seamless integration of technology and art while serving as an innovative platform to enrich cultural life, effectively contributing to the prosperity and development of cultural endeavors in the new era.
